Likes/Dislikes/Tips:
Overall, the majority of people enjoy their stay at the Grand Summit Hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast excellent, the fitness center is very well-equipped and the kitchens have all the amenities of home.
The Canyons have an excellent kids ski school and children under 6 always ski free with an accompanying adult. Onsite daycare is also available.
The gondola is just a few steps out the door which means more time on the sloes, less time walking around in clunky ski boots!
Location:
Mixed feelings about this. As you can see from the map, The Grand Summit Hotel is located between Kimball Jct. and downtown Park City.
It's about 5 miles to Main Street where most of the shops and restaurants are located. However there are other great restaurants and shops at Kimball Jct. and other locations besides Main Street, just not as many.

If you're looking for a place where you can step outside your hotel and be in close walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants, then the Grand Summit may not be your best choice.
However, if you don't mind hopping on one of Park City's free busses (comes by the hotel every 30 minutes) or using the hotel shuttle, then you won't have a problem.
Or you could always rent a car. If you plan on just skiing and staying around Park City, we feel a car rental isn't necessary. Between the free bus service and hotel shuttles, you can get around just fine. And if you change your mind, or want a rental just for the day, you can always rent a car locally from Park City.
Rooms
We would recommend getting a room facing the slopes if you can. The other side (facing east) doesn't have the greatest view - looking down over parking lots and the road into the Canyons.
If your room is on one of the upper levels of the east side, you would however get a nice view of the mountain valley and the sunrise. View of the ski slopes and sunset or view of the valley and sunrise? It's up to you!
