Deer Valley Ski Resort

The Deer Valley Ski Resort spends millions nearly every year in improvements to make the next ski season better than the last.

Deer Valley has invested millions in improvements each ski season which includes:

Replacement of Cushing's Cabin at the top of Flagstaff Mountain with a new cabin that seats 40 to 45 guests, features updated restrooms and offer a similar menu as in years past
Remodel of the Empire Canyon Lodge, increased seating upstairs, improved layout of food and beverage area

Replacement of the main snowmaking line from the Snow Park snowmaking lakes to the bottom of the Carpenter Express and Silver Lake Express chairlifts
Replacement of five snowcats, (better grooming) including one winch cat as well as replacement of 44 snowmobiles at the Summit Meadows Adventures snowmobile operation
This is a big improvement for the seasonal employees - The construction of 50 cabins at the Heber Valley RV Park, which will house approximately 200 Deer Valley Resort employees. It's always hard for employees to find affordable housing, if any housing in Park City during the winter ski season, especially those coming from another country. Deer Valley will even be providing transportation from the new cabins in Heber to the the Deer Valley Resort.

And last year, the Deer Valley Resort invested $9 million in improvements for the 2007/2008 ski season including the following:

The building of a new high-speed detachable quad chairlift, Lady Morgan Express, in the Empire Canyon area. The area includes over 200 new skiable acres, including 65 acres of gladed skiing, and nine new ski runs (three expert runs, one intermediate run and five beginner runs)
The installation of Snow Scan Ground Penetrating Radar, combined with a GPS system, which allows Resort staffers to determine snow depth on any part of the mountain so that grooming and snowmaking operations will be more efficient
The installation of enhanced, energy efficient heating systems in the Resort’s 22 chairlift terminals The purchase of 51 new snow guns (10 fan guns, three air/water guns, 13 portable energy efficient guns and 25 fixed tower energy efficient guns)
The replacement of Snow Park Lodge’s upper and lower decks with heated pavers; and the replacement of five Resort snowcats and 12 snowmobile
The installation of new automated ski tuning machines in the Snow Park Rental Shop
