Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons Resort and Deer Valley all have something going on. I took advantage of The Canyons deal a couple seasons back when I wanted to learn to snowboard. For $50 (now it is only $39!), I got a full day lift ticket, snowboard rental and an all-day lesson. There were only 5 of us in the group which was great because of the extra one-on-one help from the instructor. It was totally worth it and I encourage you to take advantage, especially if you are a first-timer and never been before. Now the time to Do It! Below are the details for each Park City Resort’s discount ski/snowboard lessons. Some deals are for Utah locals only or never-ever skiers and snowboarders.

The Canyons Resort Lessons

Canyons: Lucky 13 Offer…$13 Lift ticket, $13 beginner ski or snowboard lesson (5 hours) and $13 equipment rental. src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">

A year or so ago I picked up a couple of learn to ski and learn to snowboard dvds while browsing in the Park City Dolly’s Bookstore. I first only purchased the Snowboard dvd since I already knew how to ski, but then went back a couple of days later to pick up the skiing version because the snowboard one was so great. I figured the skiing dvd could be helpful too since I may have picked up some bad habits over the years and a refresher course would not hurt, plus the dvd goes beyond basics and covers some advanced techniques too.

The titles of the dvds are Go Snowboard and Go Ski by Neil McNab and Warren Smith, respectively. They are actually guide books that integrate video instruction along with written tips and illustrations. I like it because I can always refer to the book as a quick reminder without having to play the dvd. The back of the book reads, “Instructor, technical guide, and starter kit – all in one groundbreaking package. Integrated live-action DVD demontrates essential techinques – from basic turns to freeriding and aerials (snowboarding dvd) and carving, steeps, moguls, freeskiing and freestyle (skiing dvd).

Both dvds covers the very basic – from equipment, clothing, how to get on and off a lift, stance, etc. to how to make turns, stop (essential!) and more advanced techniques like riding powder, freestyle tricks and freeriding. Both dvds have given me some great tips and have improved my skiing and riding skills. It’s not like I sit down and watch these every time I go to the slopes, but they are nice to have around for review. What has been even better is that when we have visitors who are first-time or beginner skiers or snowboards, we have them watch these as their preliminary skiing and/or snowboarding lesson before their first day at the ski resort. Now don’t get me wrong, these are not meant to replace a regular ski or snowboard lesson, but are a nice, helpful supplement and really nearly any level skier or rider would benefit from watching.

Review of Go Snowboard DVD

Great book, even better Video

“The only snowboard source I’ve found that actually helped me “get” the movements and balance needed to control the board. On the actual snow, I could somewhat reproduce what I had seen in the excellent, well focused video. I’m not a particularly athletic person or fast physical learner, but I feel this book helped me learn faster than I would have otherwise.” -F. The reason I say this is because 1) It is one of very few ski instructional texts that teaches modern ski technique – this is technique that fully utilizes the latest in ski equipment technology 2) It is very well-written and concise….”(more of the review at Amazon) -Dasnowman NY

So check these dvds out, practice in your living room (I have just learning how to transfer weight for turns) or in your backyard (done that too down the backyard hill) or the local park hill and then when you get to your favorite Park City Ski Resort you’ll be a little more prepared for your real lesson and can get more from your instructors.

Related Park City Utah Information:

Park City Ski and Snowboard Lesson Discounts

Utah Residents Ski or Snowboard Lesson $25 at the Park City Mountain Resort!

Free Lift Ticket and Snowboard Lesson at The Canyons Ski Resort

<script type="text/javascript"
