for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.
DAY-OF-SHOW SALES
January 16, 2009 - January 25, 2009
Didn't get the tickets you wanted to a sold-out screening? Come to the Main
Box Offices in Park City to get tickets to previously unavailable screenings.
Each morning at 8:00 a.m., a limited number of tickets will be released to that
day's screenings. Tickets for each theatre's first screening of the day are
released at 8:00 a.m. the day before. Day-of-show tickets must be purchased
in-person; they are not available by phone or online.
WAIT-LIST TICKET SALES (At Theatres Only)
January 15, 2009 - January 25, 2009
The Wait-List has become a Sundance tradition and each year hundreds of
Festival goers see popular films without advance tickets. There's no need to go
to the Main Box Office- just go directly to the theatre of the screening you
wish to attend. Arrive two hours before the scheduled screening time to pick up
your wait-list number (one per person). For each theatre's first screening of
the day, wait-list numbers will be distributed one hour before the scheduled
screening time. Once you have your number return to the theatre no later than 30
minutes before the screening time. You'll then line up according to number, and
tickets are sold in sequential order. The best part is that the tickets are only
$10, but cash only.

Park City Lodging
There's
some great
Sundance Utah Vacation Rentals if you want to be close to Robert Redford and
the beautiful surroundings of the Sundance Resort.
And here are
some additional Park City
Lodging options for you to consider (hotels, condos, etc.) while attending
the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
There's
lots of choices. Just remember to make reservations ASAP. This is ski-season and
Sundance season. Rooms may be hard to come by.
Sundance Insider Tips
Parking
If you can, Don't Bring or Rent a Car!
Traffic
jams during the Sundance Film Festival are typically the worst of the year. In
general, there is no parking available at film festival theatres or venues.
Use the free Park City bus shuttles. They have special routes just for the
Festival to get you to venues on time.
If you
are driving from outside of Park City, you must park at the free Official
Festival parking lots. They are served by the free Festival shuttle service and
the free Park City Transit system. Buses operate daily from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30
a.m.
Overnight parking is not permitted in these
lots. Parking around town is extremely limited, and parking regulations are
strictly enforced.
Park City Restaurants
There is
lots of great food options besides those on Main Street. Avoid crowds and long
waits at downtown restaurants and check out some others without the hassle.
Even out
at Kimball Junction there's some great places like the Loco Lizard Cantina
(Mexican), Reef's Kitchen (Middle Eastern) and the Red Rock Brewpub and
Restaurant.
2009 Sundance Film Festival Parties/Music
The Opening Night
Party takes place on the first night of the festival (Gala Ticket required).
Last year there was a free outdoor concert, Music on Main, on Lower Main Street, open to everyone!
During the festival,
the Music Café at the Star Bar (268 Main St.) has live performances by emerging
and established artists from 2:30 to 6:00pm.
Skiing and Riding Park City
Some of the best
times to ski Park City is during the Sundance Film Festival. Why? Because most
of the visitors in town are watching films during the day, not skiing! The
slopes are not as crowded so take advantage and shred some Utah powder for half
a day. Remember though, no snowboards at
Deer Valley.
The Park
City Resort is a good choice if you want to stay close to downtown and get
in a few quick runs.
The Canyons
is great too, if you have more time to explore.
Free Stuff
Be sure to stop by the Sundance House
at The Kimball
Art Center and other sponsor venues where there are lots of giveaways. Last year
I got everything from a set of beer
glasses to
hand warmers, flashlights and ski wax.
Sundance Star Gazing
Remember,
it is the Sundance Film Festival. "FOCUS ON FILM" is the mantra,
established circa 2007.
But for those who don't mind star gazing...Enjoy!
Hope you have a great time at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Don't forget your camera -
the scenery here is breathtaking - both the mountains and the Sundance stars!
